Who has time to spend in social media? Coaches ask me if they should "waste" time with social media and my answer is an emphatic yes! Social media marketing is very effective if you do it right and with purpose. Some coaches get into trouble with social media marketing because they get too caught up in the social part and forget about the marketing part. I set aside a certain amount of time each day for social media marketing and try not to exceed that time limit. You should make sure to post to your blog at least three times per week. Posting on your blog draws the search engines to your blog and gives your potential clients something to learn from you. Attracting clients to you by providing plenty of good information that they are seeking is the most effective way to market your coaching business. Consistency is key to attracting cients and providing actionable content that potential clients will seek out. Consistency will also help you achieve expert status in the minds of your readers. Create at Least Four Blog Posts from Each Article Consistently posting to your blog is a key strategy in your overall marketing program. I suggest that you post to your blog at least four times per week. Posting to your blog is important because it keeps the search engines coming to your blog for new content and will improve your search page rank over time. Posting frequently to your blog also gives your readers an opportunity to get more information that they are looking for and allows them another opportunity to get to know, like and trust you. We all know that people buy from people they know like and trust. If you follow the article format that I outlined earlier it is very easy to get 3-4 blog posts from each article you write. Use part of your introduction, each of your main ideas and part of your conclusion to make a blog post. You can rewrite the content using a less formal style and you will have three articles very quickly. Use highlights from the introduction, each main idea from the original article and conclusion to create the fourth blog post. It should take no more than fifteen minutes to put the four blog posts together. Make Dozens of Tweets from Each Article Twitter is a micro blogging social network that can bring large numbers of potential coaching clients to your list easily and quickly. On Twitter you can send out post that are 140 characters in length. You can tweet each one of your articles by pulling out pertinent thoughts from your original article. Abbreviate your thoughts to 140 characters or less and tweet the to your Twitter followers. You can give information, advice or ask questions in your tweets. Each article should easily provide you with 30 tweets. I suggest that you use Tweet Later (www.tweetlater.com) and pre-schedule three tweets per day. One in the morning, one at midday and one in the evening. Facebook Updates You can update your status on Facebook in the same way you are tweeting. Just use the same information you are tweeting and expand it because Facebook allows more characters than twitter. Post three updates per day on Facebook.
